Sabrina Coast Radiolarians

Sabrina Coast radiolarians. Kelly-Anne Lawler.

This project is part of my PhD and looks at modern, core-top, radiolarian assemblages and past, down-core, radiolarian assemblages from the Sabrina Coast, East Antarctica. The project aims to:

  1. quantify and describe modern assemblages from surface sediment samples
  2. place these assemblages in the context of modern Southern Ocean radiolarian biogeography
  3. use past assemblages to investigate how radiolarians can help to reconstruct palaeoceanography in the region.

I reconstruct past ocean conditions using siliceous microfossils, and a lot of number crunching!
